La Horquetta Network Update

After two weeks of mixed weather the tower was lowered to add some Cat5 cable and rewind the steel cable on the winch. The two test routers performed well and have proven they can stand up to the elements.
One of those routers will be a public access point, and the other will be a mesh node.
The access point will be operational tonight, and should begin reliable service in the next week. If you want to test your link the SSID is "slingshotspot3" and it runs DHCP.
We are looking for people interested in setting up mesh nodes.
Mesh nodes are what make it possible for anyone to connect to anyone else on the network.
...
A generous member has provided up to 512k internet access. That should be enough for the few users we have right now to have some fun, so get yourself an access point and get connected.

Two more access points

There are now two active access points. The SSIDs are slingshotspot3 and slingshotspot5,
This is the naming scheme we have decided to use for hotspot access points.
The main network will use "slingshot" as the SSID.

DHCP forwarders provide IPs automatically to clients at the hotspots. Depending on the signal strength you can connect with any WiFi enabled device including cell phones, netbooks
and wireless routers.
